MMJ at the Chicago Theater - Brock - 12-29-2008 Sounds excellent, great looking set lists. I've become a pretty big fan since around the time I saw them in Milwaukee back in the fall. At Dawn is probably my favorite album. MMJ at the Chicago Theater - Brock - 06-24-2009 I'm really looking forward to both of these projects. <!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Wednesday, June 24 My Morning Jacket's Jim James to Release George Harrison Tribute EP It's credited to "Yim Yames" My Morning Jacket's Jim James to Release George Harrison Tribute EP My Morning Jacket aren't doing much at the moment, but angelic-voiced frontman Jim James isn't using that band's downtime to sit around combing his gigantic beard. This fall, James will be on his grind. We already reported that the long-awaited self-titled album from Monsters of Folk, James's supergroup with Conor Oberst, M. Ward, and Mike Mogis, is due September 22 from Shangri-La in North America, Rough Trade in Europe, Spunk in Australia, and P-Vine in Japan. But before that album even drops, we'll hear even more new music from James. On August 4, ATO will release Tribute To, James' EP of George Harrison covers, Billboard reports. Under the goofily adorable pseudonym Yim Yames, James takes on six of the late Beatle's songs. Two songs from Tribute To are Beatles jams that Harrison wrote, while the others come from the solo Harrison album All Things Must Pass. According to Billboard, James recorded the EP a few days after Harrison died in 2001; it's been sitting in the vault since then. James did the whole thing himself, on vocals and acoustic guitar. In the liner notes, James calls Harrison "a prime example of the healing power of music." The Tribute To tracklist is below. Also, Billboard claims that Monsters of Folk are "expected to" tour in September. Tribute To: 01 Long, Long, Long 02 Behind That Locked Door 03 Love You To 04 My Sweet Lord 05 Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) 06 All Things Must Pass Posted by Tom Breihan on June 24, 2009 at 12:40 p.m.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> MMJ at the Chicago Theater - liner - 06-24-2009 i actually first got into mmj and m ward because i really like bright eyes and saw an hour special they all recorded together. MMJ at the Chicago Theater - liner - 07-17-2009 i've been listening to an old show of theirs i have and it's pretty great. jim james sings a version of "you were always on my mind". good stuff MMJ at the Chicago Theater - liner - 07-28-2009 i just got some pre-sale tickets for the monsters of folk auditorium show and it didn't say where the seats were. weird. MMJ at the Chicago Theater - rok - 07-28-2009 Also, Oberst is going to be retiring the Bright Eyes moniker after one more album, according to Pitchfork. He's still going to carry on solo and with other side projects, so I'm not really sure if it matters. |
