Next years Hall of Fame - veryzer - 01-22-2009 roberto alomar - yes barry larkin - no* edgar martinez - no fred mcgriff - no* alomar is a no brainer. larkin and mcgriff.....i could be persuaded to change my vote. martinez is a definite no. Next years Hall of Fame - rok - 01-22-2009 I think Larkin gets in eventually, but not first ballot. Next years Hall of Fame - veryzer - 01-22-2009 wow, i looked up martinez's numbers and they're ridiculous. much better than i thought they were. it's a tough call because i don't respect the designated hitter. Next years Hall of Fame - Mikey - 01-22-2009 McGriff has to get in. He would have a bigger plaque to accommodate his hat. Next years Hall of Fame - savant - 01-22-2009 I agree with both of you. Martinez will not make it the first time, but he has a chance in the future. Next years Hall of Fame - savant - 01-22-2009 McGriff is going to have a tough time because he is missing the great couple of years. Next years Hall of Fame - Brock - 01-22-2009 With a relatively weak new group here I think next season might be Dawson's best shot. Next years Hall of Fame - PcB - 01-22-2009 Larkin - Yes Alomar - Yes Martinez - Not his first year, but he will get in McGriff - Although I love his commercials, no. Next years Hall of Fame - Scarey - 01-22-2009 <!--quoteo(post=13055:date=Jan 22 2009, 03:06 PM:name=PcB)-->QUOTE (PcB @ Jan 22 2009, 03:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Martinez - Not his first year, but he will get in McGriff - Although I love his commercials, no.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> You realize their production (taking into account that McGriff played about 400 more games than Martinez and looking at their 162 game averages) is pretty much the same and McGriff played a position most of his career, right? Also, McGriff came so very close to the 500 HR milestone while Martinez only had 309. I would say McGriff has a better shot than Martinez does. Next years Hall of Fame - Brock - 01-22-2009 I don't see any of those guys getting in on the first ballot. Next years Hall of Fame - savant - 01-22-2009 I would be shocked if Alomar doesn't get in on the first ballot. Next years Hall of Fame - Brock - 01-22-2009 Neyer with a pretty good write-up on this (he thinks Dawson will make it in next year): http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/hof09/column...&id=3829454 Next years Hall of Fame - Brock - 01-22-2009 <!--quoteo(post=13063:date=Jan 22 2009, 02:24 PM:name=savant)-->QUOTE (savant @ Jan 22 2009, 02:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I would be shocked if Alomar doesn't get in on the first ballot.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> I have a feeling the spitting incident will keep quite a few voters from letting him in on the first ballot. That is the only incident he ever had, maybe. |
