You know what's fun? - BT - 06-18-2009

Watching the replay of this game, listening to Hawk Harrelson be the complete assbag he always is, all the while knowing that he will be crying like a bitch before it's over.

It's in the 7th inning right now. Ramirez just hit a 2 run homer to put the Sox up 2. Harrelson reacts by announcing the home run as if it's Bobby Thompson's shot heard round the world. I shit you not, he just screamed "YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD, YESSSS! HELL YES!!!!!!". That's right. The announcer for the White Sox just said "Hell yes" because his sub .500 team just hit a home run in the 7th inning of a game being played in June. The announcer for a MAJOR league baseball team. Not the inebriated fuckwit sitting next to you at the local tavern. A major league announcer.

The man is a complete and utter joke.

"And that's what happens, when the umpire misses a call!"

"one pitch, one missed call can turn the whole inning around".

douche.

exactly. That was probably his lowest moment, and that is saying something.

By the way, Lee hadn't even made it around the bags before Hawk complained about the missed strike call by the ump.

There has to be video somewhere of that play with Hawk calling it.

Hawk unsurprisingly wrong

It's a bit edited, but you do get to hear this eternal assfuck say "pickle" at least 3 times.

You can click the MLB.TV link on that video and see the whole thing (it's in the top of the 8th). Damn that's awesome. His indignation is a work of art.

I can't remember how that play was called that way. Anyone?

Interference. I think an infielder ran into Pagan.

You know what's fun? - rok - 06-19-2009

Yeah, watched it again tonight. Awesome, just plain awesome. Even Stone narrowly avoided an argument with Hawk a couple of times regarding a few borderline called strikes by Z and why those were acceptable and not a couple by Linebrink, which were low, but CLEARLY better pitches.

How this buffoon is considering a well respected announcer by anyone outside of Sox circles is beyond me. And Stone should be ashamed of himself for pairing up with him.

You know what's fun? - Destined - 06-19-2009

I love how the CSN cameras never once show the interference.

Plus, Hawk's swipe at the Cubs is purely comical:

Hawk -They sure wish they bunted now, don't they?!
Hawk & DJ - (laughter)

You know what's fun? - bz - 06-19-2009

I still want to hear how a triple play could even be conceivable.

You know what's fun? - BT - 06-19-2009

I just watched that again, and it's even more embarrassing than I remembered. First you have the overwhelming smugness by those 2 numbnuts, as everything is "obvious" to them, and the umpires are simply buffoons who couldn't see anything.

THEN comes his complete spazzout. Then, after everything gets sorted out (except for tweedledum and tweedledee), the NEXT play Pagan gets into another rundown, and Hawk, almost in tears, starts screaming that he should do whatever he wants, because if he makes an out the ump will fix it.

They then spend the next half inning trying to justify their confusion (Brenly had to explain to Hawk what happened), by stating that the umps should have called a dead ball if it was interference. So remember, in Hawks world, if you are up by 2 with the bases loaded, and the other team hits a double, just tackle one of the runners, and it will be a dead ball, and only 1 guy will score.

Really it's like watching 2 five year olds desperately trying to get their way.

You know what's fun? - rok - 06-19-2009

What's great is that neither one of them has ever brought that play up again since then. So how did that protest work out for ya?

And how CSN failed to show Pagan getting tackled is so irresponsible, it borders on the absurd. What propaganda artists.
