Kevin Gregg - Butcher - 06-23-2009

Sucks a whole lotta cock.

Kevin Gregg - veryzer - 06-23-2009

he's our version of kerry wood.

Kevin Gregg - BT - 06-23-2009

Agreed

Kevin Gregg - rok - 06-23-2009

Does he only have one pitch that he can throw for strikes? That's what it looks like to me.

Plus I hate his stupid spectacles and his old man delivery.

Kevin Gregg - veryzer - 06-23-2009

i always thought he looked like clark kent.

Kevin Gregg - ruby23 - 06-23-2009

Shit happens.

Kevin Gregg - Ace - 06-23-2009

He can lick my buttress.

Kevin Gregg - Lance - 06-23-2009

Playoffs? With Gregg as a closer? Pshaw.

Ok for fuck's sake, if the Cubs don't make the playoffs, it won't be because of Kevin Gregg. Gimme a fucking break.

There's about 2 lockdown closers out there and about 20 mediocre ones (the category Gregg falls into), there's gonna be about 6-7 teams in the playoffs with mediocre closers.

Kevin Gregg - Coach - 06-23-2009

I wish he had an out pitch. All of his strikes are hittable.

Kevin Gregg - Destined - 06-23-2009

Kevin Gregg is the biggest poser since Vanilla Ice.

That's what I'm saying. The only strikes he was throwing were fastballs right down the middle with zero movement. That said, if we just could hit with men on base, we probably win tonight, and last night too. Gregg's mediocrity is magnified because our offense sucks dick.

I agree with the fact that if the Cubs miss the playoffs it will not be because of Gregg. However Ruby, your statement about the closers and playoff teams is ridiculous. As it stands right now the closers for the playoff teams would be:

Jonathan Papelbon
Mariano Rivera
Fernando Rodney
Frank Francisco/CJ Wilson
Brad Lidge
Ryan Franklin
Jonathan Broxton

The current WC teams in the NL would have Hoffman or Brian Wilson

I would take ANY ONE of those closers over Kevin Gregg. When healthy, Papelbon, Rivera, Francisco, and Broxton are as lock down as it gets. Lidge has had a tough time, but we cannot forget he did not blow a save at all last year. IMO, Gregg is worse that any one of those closers except maybe Rodney and Franklin.

Add Jenks, Cordero and Valverde to the list of closers on 2nd tier/mediocre teams that I'd take over Gregg as well.

Kevin Gregg - Butcher - 06-23-2009

Maybe it just feels this way, but Gregg doesn't just blow saves, he finds a way to blow the saves that really hurt. He killed what would've been a huge emotional win tonight. Instead of being totally fired up about the comeback win on the road, everyone feels like dogshit.
