chelsea walls - liner - 07-09-2009
i watched chelsea walls last night. cool movie. it's directed by ethan hawke and the cast includes - uma, vincent d'nofrio, rosario dawson, frank whaley, steve zhan, kris krisstofferson, natasha richardson, mostly music by jeff tweedy (w/ a little cameo) plus a bunch of other "indie darlings".
it's based on a play about all the different artistic weirdos living at the chelsea hotel. i saw it when it first came out about 10 years ago and watching it again reminded me that i was supposed to be a starving writer in new york and watching it again as a fat ass suburban father may have made it a little more emotional for me. but i think it's a cool, sort of arty movie

Not sure why I haven't seen it yet, but I'm adding it to my Netflix queue.
On a related note, Hawke is supposed to be in another Chelsea hotel-themed film called Chelsea on the Rocks, from Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, King of NY, Body Snatchers). It was supposed to have come out last year.
