The future of analyzing fielding - Butcher - 07-10-2009 Looks like we'll be able to measure fielding with a great deal of accuracy very soon. Pretty amazing. ![]() The system can show exactly where a ball was hit, and the speed of the ball and the runners throughout a play. It can also show how long it took a ball to be returned to the infield. Not sure if it would tell the whole story because context and positioning are so important to fielding, but it is better than what we currently have. I agree that there needs to be a mix.
