Sanchez to the Giants? - veryzer - 07-29-2009 did anyone else hear this? Sanchez to the Giants? - veryzer - 07-29-2009 here it is. Sanchez to the Giants? - MrSheps - 07-30-2009 This one pisses me off. I would have liked to see him take over 2nd for us. But, with Reed out for awhile maybe this means Hendry will actually get a real center fielder. Though I doubt it and there isn't much out there. I'm starting to think this trading deadline will net nothing of interest if anything at all. But I still hold out hope there is a front line starter or .300 hitter out there somewhere... Sanchez to the Giants? - MW4 - 07-30-2009 Rumor has it that we'll sign Kenny Lofton Sanchez to the Giants? - Clapp - 07-30-2009 <!--quoteo(post=53519:date=Jul 29 2009, 11:27 PM:name=MW4)-->QUOTE (MW4 @ Jul 29 2009, 11:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Rumor has it that we'll sign Kenny Lofton<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> I assume this is a joke? Plus the Giants got fleeced. But I wanted Sanchez because while the Cubs have a lot of good hitters, they don't have many guys who do all the little things at the plate well like move over runners. Sanchez would have been a good compliment to all the power hitters and those with that mindset, he's the type of guy that helps you piece together a run, we live and die by the HR a little too much. And the guys we have that aren't home run hitters aren't always great at the fundamental things... Sanchez would have been another '08 Theriot in terms of hitting the ball the right way with a runner on, getting the bunt down, that kind of thing that helps in playoff and other close games. ...Brenly would have loved him. Oh well, it's not a huge loss, but it would have helped to fill the DeRo void a little. Sanchez to the Giants? - Dirk - 07-30-2009 If Orlando Cabrera is available, and I think he is, he'd be a damn good pick up if the price is right. Sanchez to the Giants? - sleepyhead - 07-30-2009 The Giants gave up their number 1 prospect for Sanchez. How would you feel if the Cubs gave up Vitters for Sanchez? I know that Sanchez would've been nice, but my guess is this place would be erupting like a volcano. But he was there 4th best prospect according to the articles, and not their highest pitching prospect, that's a lefty named Madison Bumgarner who is their #1 overall. And this guy traded was considered to be a 4 v. a 5 star by Baseball Prospectus. Not to take away from your point, I don't put a lot into those rankings and lists and prospect minded people and publications will say it was a bad deal for sure. But I'm not sure it's the same as us giving up Vitters. I think it might be more like us giving up Jose Ceda (again), who was a 4 star guy ranked 4th on our list going into the season. Also, a couple of years ago Felix Pie was a top if not the top prospect for us. I would now be feeling great if we gave him up for Sanchez. Sanchez to the Giants? - Coach - 07-30-2009 People fall in love with prospects too easily. Was he a top end 4 and Vitters a 5? Sanchez isn't a rental either, they'll have him through next year. I don't really know enough about the pitcher they gave up to say if I would be happy or sad if we did the trade. If you say he's Vitters, then no, it wouldn't make sense. If he's Ceda it might. But I also know from recent experience we've been selling low with a lot of our young talent. |
