Mark Prior - Coach - 08-01-2009

QUOTE Mark Prior-S- Padres Aug. 1 - 2:05 pm et

According to Corey Brock of MLB.com, Mark Prior is expected to be released from his minor league contract.
It could happen as soon as today. In a post to Twitter, Brock notes that Prior hasn't thrown since April due to pain in his throwing shoulder. What else. He never contributed after signing with the Padres last season either. Believe it or not, Prior hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors since August 10, 2006. Time flies.

A pro-rated contract seems harmless, right?

Yep, I will always remember that game against the Pirates. It was his only win of the season as well.

Ironic that we all gathered together to inadvertently watch the swan song of one of the most famous/infamous Cubs of our lifetimes.
I loved him. But it really sounds like he's done.

Amazing that no surgery or rehab has at least allowed him to throw at any level. Jason Schmidt hadn't pitched in how long? And last night he was throwing around 90 and held the Braves to one hit. Prior is such a sad fucking story.

Wow, that's crazy, Clapp and I were just talking about him last night, wondering why the Padres have continued to keep paying him for two seasons when he hasn't done anything, not even throw. I would think he would have to be seriously considering giving up. He will be 29 next month and hasn't been healthy in 4 years. How long can a person even stand to keep trying with no progress whatsoever.

gee whillakers, i never saw this coming.

Anyone concerned about where the employee will be getting his next paycheck?

Mark Prior - chemikel - 08-01-2009

Sort of veering off topic here, but does anybody here remember what Prior's rookie cards were selling for in his heyday? I think this one was definitely over $1000

Yeah this is hilarious. We were talking about him for about a half hour.

So can Prior coach H.S. basketball? Dusty Baker is one destructive motherfucker.

Dusty played a part in it, but this is beyond him I think. The dude clearly just wasn't going to stay healthy for anybody. That was 6 years ago.

Mark Prior - Runnys - 08-01-2009

What are the odds that Prior is on the 2003 list?

Mark Prior - Dave - 08-01-2009

He always seemed like a bit of a douchebag who was never that interested in playing baseball. But all that money was worth it just for 2003, which was incredible for the first 172 games+ 7 1/2 innings.
