I think the Twins will come out ahead in that deal.

I'm getting a little antsy now after watching other teams be aggressive just 48 hours after the WS.

We should be looking to trade Vitters, Castro, Cashner, and any other minor league players that have gotten some hype recently. We're going to hang on to all of those guys too long, and when they bust (which they always do with us), we're going to look back and say, "We should have traded ________ back when he still had some value."

I agree, except Cashner.

I have ominous feelings about Vitters' ability to make the necessary adjustments at the big league level, and (fair or unfair) I have ominous feelings about Castro's age.

Hardy to Twins - rok - 11-06-2009

I dunno, for once I actually am fairly optimistic that at least 1 of our young players will develop into something useful. Now, I'm not buying into the hype that Castro and Vitters will be stars, but I think that they can at least be productive players. I might change my mind tomorrow though.

Not in my opinion.
The Brewers didnt get anything from Hardy last year, shipped him to the minors, and have a good prospect at that position ready to go.
Hardy was expendable and Gomez still has alot of talent.
I think its a good risk by the Brew Crew.

Hardy to Twins - rok - 11-07-2009

I could turn out to be completely wrong, but all that I've seen out of Gomez is a guy with a great glove and some speed. He has no patience at the plate, little power, and also seems to have a very low baseball IQ. Who knows, maybe something will click in Milwaukee an in a weaker league, but his first 3 seasons have been nothing short of awful. At least Hardy was already a productive player until last season and is solid defensively too, but yeah, I'll admit his 1 year decline was a disaster, so who knows what's going on in his head.

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

We can't go forever just taking on higher priced players from low market teams. For one thing, the players we take from other teams are old. It's hard to build around guys like Soriano because he was at the top of his prime and we all knew he would only decline in his years here.

Another reason is the Cubs just can't afford to do it. No team can fill up their roster with all veterans except for the Yankees really. Even the Red Sox have developed their own talent over the years. Yes, they dip into the pocket books to bring in guys like Beckett, Lowell, Bay, and Drew. But, they utilize their scouting and player development maybe better than anyone in the league. That is why they are successful and that is what Rickett's is trying to do. No matter how cursed you think the Cubs are, we have to try to rely on our homegrown talent. Does that mean we can't trade those guys? Of course not. But, we shouldn't be trading them just because our prospects "always bust with us".

Hardy to Twins - Brock - 11-08-2009

Not that the Brewers would have traded him to the Cubs, but I wouldn't mind Hardy as my SS.

Hardy to Twins - Mikey - 11-08-2009

Hopefully, Hendry gets a SS this winter.

3rded.

Hardy to Twins - jeffy - 11-09-2009

If he went back to his 07-08 numbers, then yes.

Hardy to Twins - Andy - 11-09-2009

I'd rather have Theriot at SS this season with Felipe Lopez at 2B (even if given arbitration, he's only a Type B for the Brewers). Then let Theriot and Castro battle it out in 2011.

Hardy to Twins - ruby23 - 11-09-2009

I'd like to see Theriot on another fucking team.
