Joe Nathan - Butcher - 03-09-2010 Torn ligament in his elbow. Man...this is a massive blow to the Twins. Joe Nathan - jeffy - 03-09-2010 Terrible news. I like the Twins..... Man...this is a massive blow to the Twins.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Glad we didn't go after him. I was interested in that idea the last couple of years. And yeah, huge, huge loss. Add in their new park... I don't think they're going to be all that good this year. If there's one team that always played to their park, it was this team. I've gotten into a bunch of arguments about this recently, but I really think the Tigers are the team to beat in the AL Central. I don't think the Granderson loss is nearly as big as most people do, and think Damon at least matches his production at the plate. Lots of good young arms on that team now, and they really improved the bullpen(ex: Valverde). They should still be able to score enough, even with a lot of questionable young players in the lineup. Joe Nathan - Butcher - 03-09-2010 Before Nathan's injury, I thought the Twins, White Sox, and Tigers were all within a couple of games of each other. I think the Tigers and White Sox are co-favorites for that division now, with the Twins a few games behind. Joe Nathan - Jody - 03-09-2010 This has got to hinder our chances a little of obtaining a reliever don't you think? Joe Nathan - funkster - 03-09-2010 This is a huge loss for them. They're saying they're going to let him rest for two weeks and see if the swelling goes down...if it doesn't help...season ending surgery. I think chances of him pitching this year are zero. Joe Nathan - jeffy - 03-09-2010 Damn, it seems like every team I root for gets shit on with stuff like this. Maybe I should try to induce some reverse mojo upon some teams I hate....Go Cardinals! I feel so dirty now Joe Nathan - rok - 03-09-2010 Sox fans must be dancing in the streets. And yeah, this sucks for us as well if we are in the market for bullpen help. I wonder if the Twins go after a guy like Heath Bell. I would love to have him. Joe Nathan - ruby23 - 03-09-2010 I think the Sox run away the division, with or without Nathan being hurt. Joe Nathan - funkster - 03-09-2010 With Joe Nathan I had the Twins winning the Central by a slim margin. Not sure if that's the case now. No way the Sox run away with it. Joe Nathan - AnnoCatuli - 03-09-2010 I think the Twins might deal for Bell. They need a closer, or they will die a quick death Joe Nathan - cherp - 03-10-2010 <!--quoteo(post=82059:date=Mar 9 2010, 12:13 PM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Mar 9 2010, 12:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Before Nathan's injury, I thought the Twins, White Sox, and Tigers were all within a couple of games of each other. I think the Twins, even without Nathan are still better than Detroit. <!--quoteo(post=82064:date=Mar 9 2010, 01:19 PM:name=rok)-->QUOTE (rok @ Mar 9 2010, 01:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Sox fans must be dancing in the streets.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> I haven't seen it. Sure - there are a few idiots out there - all fan bases have em. But I haven't seen any significant "celebrations". I'm not crying for em...but most fans don't cheer injuries. <!--quoteo(post=82077:date=Mar 9 2010, 03:03 PM:name=funkster)-->QUOTE (funkster @ Mar 9 2010, 03:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->No way the Sox run away with it.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Agreed. I don't see anyone in this division good enough to run away with anything. The Sox offense has the potential to be very bad - possibly bad enough to offset how good the pitching could be. Joe Nathan - Rappster - 03-10-2010 Losing a closer like Nathan is big for the Twins, but...they do have the benefit of a developing pitching staff. Guerrier closed in the minors, and showed genuine flashes last year. On the flip side...they need to see how they'll play to the new park, so there could be more question marks surrounding them than we know. You know what's cool...my studio is about four blocks from Target Field, and we can see a small sliver of the field from our rooftop. |
