On a bright note - Andy - 04-18-2010

Despite having a losing record, just about every game we've scored or threatened late. It kind of feels like they're keeping themselves in each game with a chance at the end.

Exactly...it's really been a function of bullpen effectiveness in most cases.

It will be interesting to see what happens when things start to align...

I don't know what to think. Ace, I think you make a good point...but its games like today that make me lean toward thinking this team is going to be incredibly mediocre.

On a bright note - dk123 - 04-18-2010

It's the same old thing. The offense sucks. The pitching has been largely excellent, and I think Lou has done a pretty good job overall, but if you can't hit, you aren't going to win many games.

I agree. This team is seriously going to suck if Ramirez doesn't pull his head out of his ass. Yes I am being overdramatic right now, but I'm really pissy after this game

I'm guessing you're a glass half-full kinda guy!

I wish I had a glass at least half-full...

Another case of MACEstaken identity?

On a bright note - jeffy - 04-18-2010

It's sad that the Pirates are playing better than us right now.

On a bright note - kbwsb - 04-18-2010

Today's loss sucked.
Still, Andy has a point; most 1-run games are a matter of luck. Marshall actually threw a great pitch on the game-winner. That dude freaking golfed it.

I think we're always going to be crap in 1-run games because our bullpen is going to continuously blow games, our defense sucks, and we do a thing or two every game to fuck ourselves over. Our talent level will keep us in games, but we're going to lose a lot of close games and late all season long. Like I said in the game thread, our Expected W-L could end up being way better than our real record.

120 pitches. That's a lot.

On a bright note - phan - 04-19-2010

ok, then i get it i guess. still would've rather seen somebody else get the out and leave marmol for the 9th but had it worked i probably wouldn't have cared. it just always seems to take a batter or two for marmol to lock in.
