Seriously I get that his talent level is pretty high, but fuck between ESPN and Mlbtv you'd think he's a guaranteed HOFer. Will anyone be watching? Does anyone care? They actually asked Ryan Zimmerman if he was ready to be share being the face of the franchise with Strasburg...the kid hasn't even thrown one major league pitch yet!

It appears impossible to watch ESPN without hearing how this is a "must see" event.
I'm somewhat interested but I'm just as interested in seeing a bad Cubs team play a bad Brewers team. Most likely I'll spend more time watching Lakers at Celtics than either of the other 2 games.
My guess is that Strasburg will be a great MLB pitcher someday relatively soon. If he can remain healthy maybe an All Star within 2-3 years. The hype machine just seems overblown on this guy.

MLBtv has been non stop coverage. That alone is making me hope the Pirates light him up tonight.

I'm mildly interested. I'm sure they're going to limit his pitch count, so even if he dominates, he isn't going to go more than 5 or 6 innings.

Yep, 75-90 pitches.
The hype's out of control. They've had the "Countdown to Strasburg" on ESPN all day. I saw Topps is selling autographed baseballs from him on their website for $275.
He's going to be good (maybe not tonight, but I think he will be). Very good. Even so, he'd probably have to have a Roger Clemens career for it to be considered a success to some with this unfair, ridiculous hype.
He has four very good pitches, and he commands all of them well. I saw him throw a dirty change-up on 3-1 last week. That's pretty nice to have when your fastball reaches 100 mph. His mechanics are good as well. He really, really reminds me of Ubaldo Jimenez.
Injuries are going to happen with any pitcher, but there's nothing that really stands out that screams "Tommy John" with him.

When I hear a power pitcher who throws a slurve, I immediately think of Kerry Wood. He never had to deal with injuries in his career. Wood's mechanics were never seen as stellar but Strasburg when mentioned the pitch it immediately raised a concern.

Thought Wood pitched 175 pitches in a day by starting both games in a double header in high school.
