2022 Team - Butcher - 12-07-2021 Quote:You can say what you will about the Cubs, but Jed doesnt seems like the kind of asshole who would purposely mislead him. I find that hard to believe. </div> </blockquote> I don't think Stroman was misled. But what is he going to say? "Yeah...Jed told me we're going to try to catch lightning in a bottle in 2022, but if it doesn't work out I'll get traded to a contender." You say all the right things to the public. Right now the Cubs are trying to drum up some interest in the team (and it's working). Again, I don't think this is a bad move at all. In fact, it's a great move. But I don't think it's some sort of sign that they're going for it in 2022. 2022 Team - funkster - 12-07-2021 I don't think Stroman would sign here if that was the case, just my opinion. We will see soon enough. 2022 Team - Butcher - 12-07-2021 I just don't see how you can look at the Cubs roster and make sense of a contender out of what they have to work with right now. Other than Contreras, I don't think there's a single guy in their lineup who I have any confidence in to consistently produce. 2022 Team - MrSheps - 12-07-2021 I don't see a contender, but they can sign their way to being competitive if they wanted to. My guess is they want to be in the mix in 2023 on, not expecting to be in 2022. 2022 Team - 1060Ivy - 12-07-2021 Would contend that every team wants to be in the mix year in and year out but either dont have: the roster, the money to purchase free agents, or the assets to trade to improve the roster 2022 Team - bz - 12-09-2021 Wish we wouldve signed El Mayo ? 2022 Team - 1060Ivy - 02-04-2022 Only in baseball can the offer of federal mediators to end lockout be a bad thing After the 1994 experience with moderation, the players view of federal mediators is that federal mediators focus on a process which typically leads to a split the difference in offers and requires an additional 3-4 weeks for “the process”. Players believe that they have already offered reasonable concessions while owners have stonewalled. Didn’t believe that either side would put games would at risk for next season after the pandemic BS and shortened seasons but clearly I underestimated the stupidity and stubbornness at play 2022 Team - funkster - 02-08-2022 Interesting, sounds like the Cubs may be interested in bringing back Rizzo. 2022 Team - MrSheps - 02-09-2022 Yeah, and I'm not surprised actually. From a goodwill with the fans perspective it would be a huge win to say the least. What'll be interesting is if the Cubs do make an offer and it's in line with others he receives-- does he take it or not. On one hand, it makes all the sense in the world for his personal brand, his foundation, spokesperson opportunities, etc., to come back to the city that's going to support him like no other will, but on the other hand there was some bad feelings in the departure and negotiations or lack there of last offseason. 2022 Team - VanSlawAndCottoCheese - 02-11-2022 Quote:Wish we wouldve signed El Mayo That's Hell, mann. 2022 Team - Butcher - 02-14-2022 Slaw. 2022 Team - funkster - 02-22-2022 Have to say, this lockout is fucking bullshit. 2022 Team - Butcher - 02-23-2022 Yes. It really does need to be said. 2022 Team - funkster - 02-23-2022 Nothing garners interest in a sport like not having a goddamn season. 2022 Team - rok - 02-23-2022 3 straight seasons without full attendance. MLB is ushering in its own irrelevance. |
