We need a real number 3 hitter. I don't think very many pitchers (if any) are really that intimated when the Cubs number 3 guy comes to the plate, which is sad.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Exactly. The only benefit is more guys can potentially get on base in front of Lee, who is mashing(.370 in the 19 games coming into today). However, no one on this team is getting on base in front of Lee.

There is a current Cubs batter that intimated a pitcher? Who? When?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Derrek Lee has an OPS of 1.027 since May 16th. But only has 9 RBIs to show for it. THAT's the problem. We can't get guys on for Lee, and all of our RISP problems don't help.

Well...can't put this on the pitching staff. They battled hard. I'll take 2 runs allowed in 13 innings any day. Would have been really nice to have 5-3 trip. We would be tied for first right now if we could have scored some runs the last two nights.
Our pitching is amazing right now. Once the bats break out, watch out.

2 games out, with an undermanned offense that isn't producing? I'll take it. Bring the Boys Back Home.

I believe Aaron Miles was intimate with the Abysmal Snowman yesterday.

The last time our offense started to break out, our pitching faltered too. It would be nice if we could get both going at the same time, but it just hasn't happened at all, all season.

Problem is who knows if they're going to break out.

That's true. I still hold hope that Rami brings that. He is the cog in the machine. Yes, he's been hurt before, but DeRo was there to pick us up, not only at 3B with great defense, but as a leader and a productive hitter.

I think Rami comes back, and makes everyone around him better. I don't think many people in the game realize just how good he is. He's not as flashy and glamorous as David Wright, but he means more to us than Wright means to the Mets.
