It's truly incredible.

Zambrano - rok - 10-03-2010

I am not surprised, because Z is unpredictable, but no one should doubt that he is still capable of being a quality SP, because even in his down years, he was just that.

Truly incredible? Really? I'm not saying I would have predicted this, but I'm not surprised by it either.

Zambrano is a good pitcher. Always has been.

I pretty much just said what Rok said.

Given where he was mid-season, I say again: it's truly incredible. How can anyone disagree with that?

Matter for who? He pitched 6 games against teams in a pennant chase and got 3 wins and 3 NDs. He pitched well in every one of those games. You don't think those games mattered for those teams or are Cubs the only variable?

But no, god fucking forbid giving Z anything that even resembles credit.

As I've said numerous times, had Zambrano been given the chance to work through his early season problems, there's no doubt in my mind that his mid-saeson troubles would not have existed. Though I'm a tad surprised, I don't think it's "truly incredible" in any way, shape or form.

I'm extra ornery because my fantasy team is playing like shit, but tom: by definition, when a guy goes 8-0 with an ERA near 1.00 over an 11-start stretch, it's "truly incredible," even if the guy is Roy fucking Halladay. Again: how is this even debatable? I'm not saying shit about Z working stuff out, etc. (I've said before that I AGREE WITH YOU).

Zambrano - kbwsb - 10-03-2010

Imagine if that rumored mid-season trade to the White Sox had gone through, and Z had gone 8-0 and led the Sox to the playoffs. I'd be pissed, but tom and Butch would be opening their veins.

Sometimes, the best trades are the ones you don't make. (and frankly, it would have been stupid to trade Z at the absolute nadir of his value, anyway.)

Zambrano - Coach - 10-03-2010

The Cubs had no pressure in any of these games. Hats off to Z for pitching well against some good teams.

I'm still waiting for him to look this good when the Cubs need it most.

(I guess that was a few years ago, though)
