This is also good. Not because I want Bradley back, but because the less desperate we appear to get rid of Bradley, the better off we are.
And I'm thinking there is a chance he is back. Not a big chance, but a chance.

We all follow the Cubs enough to know something about the players. To me, Dempster seems to be quite intelligent. And this is something that an intelligent ballplayer would not only say to the press, but also<i> feel</i>. (btw, I met him at SOITOW-2006; same impression: smart, likable guy.)
Besides, BT is correct...if it looks like we have to dump Bradley, it severely limits our options, and diminishes his trade value by a ton.

i don't think dempster was saying that to up bradley's trade value. i think he was just taking the high road and maybe offering an olive branch in the off chance bradley does come back.

You are probably right, but it's still good to hear. As I said, it helps his trade value (at least to some extent), but it also shows that if Hendry can't find a taker, they should be able to go into next season with Bradley, if they have to.

Meh, if he still plays defense close to how he used to (I haven't seen enough of him outside of the goofy dropped pop up to know), his .302/.387 with 20 steals certainly wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Do you guys really think anyone would trade for Bradley, without the Cubs paying a large chunk of his salary? It's not like this is the first time he has had a big time problem in terms of his demeanor. I just don't see why anyone would want to bother. The Cubs haven't helped themselves at all with how this played out in the media from the get go either. Yeah, he is an above average hitter, but when you combine his injuries and his attitude problems, and the year he is coming off statistically, why would anyone trade for him without totally fucking Hendry up the ass? The Cubs would do best to try to make amends, and maybe give Bradley a fucking Klonopin prescription and some meditation lessons. We either live with him, or take it up the ass with a Burrell or some other shitty ass player, and there's no way we are going to get any salary flexibility out of that sort of trade anyway.

Yeah, I'm starting to think our best option is to pray that Bradley rebounds, has a good first half, and then trade him at the deadline. I mean, at least Bradley has <i>some</i> upside compared to a Rowand/Castillo/Burrell.

I still believe he will be traded, but we'll get stuck with the bill. Some team will emerge, like Texas, that still sees the good in Bradley as a player, and can ignore the bullshit. He needs to go to a team with a mild-mannered or indifferent fanbase (and media) for this to work, so that means a small market team.
