Bradley - offcolorpoetry - 10-31-2009 According the Tribune, Dempster said that the players will forgive Bradley and move on if he comes back next season. Not because I want Bradley back, but because the less desperate we appear to get rid of Bradley, the better off we are. And I'm thinking there is a chance he is back. Not a big chance, but a chance. Bradley - ColoradoCub - 10-31-2009 QUOTE Updating a previous item, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Cubs have denied rumors of a possible Milton Bradley-for-Vernon Wells trade. The Cubs quickly responded to a report in Saturday's Toronto Sun, saying the rumor has "no legs at all." The Cubs are reportedly looking to unload Milton Bradley this winter, but acquiring Vernon Wells in order to do it would clearly be the wrong strategy. To me, Dempster seems to be quite intelligent. And this is something that an intelligent ballplayer would not only say to the press, but also feel. (btw, I met him at SOITOW-2006; same impression: smart, likable guy.) Besides, BT is correct...if it looks like we have to dump Bradley, it severely limits our options, and diminishes his trade value by a ton. As I said, it helps his trade value (at least to some extent), but it also shows that if Hendry can't find a taker, they should be able to go into next season with Bradley, if they have to. Bradley - vegascub - 11-09-2009 QUOTE According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Cubs have discussed the framework of a three-team deal involving Milton Bradley. The idea is described as a longshot, but here's how it would play out: Bradley will go to the Blue Jays. Lyle Overbay will head to the Mets. And Luis Castillo will land with the Cubs. The teams involved have only discussed the deal's framework, and not in direct fashion, according to Rosenthal's sources. It makes some sense, but feels a bit far-fetched to be taken too seriously. Bradley - sleepyhead - 11-09-2009 QUOTE (vegascub @ Nov 9 2009, 06:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Cubs have discussed the framework of a three-team deal involving Milton Bradley. Bradley - rok - 11-09-2009 Whatever gets done the quickest and allows Hendry to focus on other needs would be fine by me, provided that we get someone useful in return. Bradley - vegascub - 11-10-2009 QUOTE According to Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune, Toronto "wants no part of" outfielder Milton Bradley. This contradicts a report from FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, which had the Cubs discussing a three-team deal for Bradley involving both the Blue Jays and Mets. Bradley's reputation as a clubhouse cancer and the two years, $21 million remaining on his contract will make any deal extremely tough. Bradley - dk123 - 11-10-2009 Do you guys really think anyone would trade for Bradley, without the Cubs paying a large chunk of his salary? It's not like this is the first time he has had a big time problem in terms of his demeanor. I just don't see why anyone would want to bother. The Cubs haven't helped themselves at all with how this played out in the media from the get go either. Yeah, he is an above average hitter, but when you combine his injuries and his attitude problems, and the year he is coming off statistically, why would anyone trade for him without totally fucking Hendry up the ass? The Cubs would do best to try to make amends, and maybe give Bradley a fucking Klonopin prescription and some meditation lessons. We either live with him, or take it up the ass with a Burrell or some other shitty ass player, and there's no way we are going to get any salary flexibility out of that sort of trade anyway. Bradley - Butcher - 11-10-2009 Yeah...I'm beginning to think Bradley is going nowhere. I mean, at least Bradley has some upside compared to a Rowand/Castillo/Burrell. Bradley - rok - 11-10-2009 I still believe he will be traded, but we'll get stuck with the bill. Some team will emerge, like Texas, that still sees the good in Bradley as a player, and can ignore the bullshit. He needs to go to a team with a mild-mannered or indifferent fanbase (and media) for this to work, so that means a small market team. |
