Stupid.

Will Hendry EVER fucking learn his lesson with this? Seriously. What the fuck is it with Hendry and middle relievers?

Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - biggz - 11-19-2009

We're on a budget and we pay $3.75MM over 2 years for a middle reliever who walked 5 per 9 last year? Awesome.

Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - jstraw - 11-19-2009

The first deal of the Ricketts era? Sweet mercy.

Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - rok - 11-19-2009

Is this confirmed at $7+ mil over 2 years? Seems to be a bit much, but at least he doesn't suck.

Good.

Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - Coldneck - 11-19-2009

Uggh. I don't hate Grabow and think he can be quite useful. I just don't understand why we didn't just offer him arbitration and be done with it. 1 year deal at or below what jst gave him.

I'm not sure what there is to like here. Grabow is a mediocre at best reliever.

I like the signing. Grabow is better than any LHP pitcher the Cubs have or have had in the BP in a long time. Next year, we don't have to worry about who a LHP outta the pen will be, he's there for sure. I happy with the signing, there's nothing wrong with it.

So was Scott Eyre. And Mike Remlinger.

Maybe we should go with Cotts then. Or maybe we should forget about having a LHP in the pen all together. And for everyone saying we should have just offered him arbitration, he made $2.3 M last year. Offer him arbitration and he gets the same salary anyway.

But for one year instead of two. Eyre and Howry both worked out fine for a season and then sucked the second season. It's a gamble with these middle relievers. Why lock yourself in to two years?

Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - rok - 11-19-2009

Well, better 2 years than 3 I guess like Howry and Eyre. I'm not even mad about the # of years. I just hope the $'s tied up don't prevent us from adding more pieces.

Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - Butcher - 11-19-2009

This isn't going to keep me up at night or anything, but it's these kind of moves that leave me scratching my head. Hendry doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes.
