Hmmmm, any chance that good old Tony LaRussa decided that he might as well go full, bat shit crazy, drop the Sox job and return to the Cardinals. It’s not happening but makes for a great rumor

Quote:Very weird. I know they got bounced from the Wild Card game, but they really shouldn't have been there in the first place. Not sure how that's Shildt's fault. But whatever.
Yeah, they won 17 straight and lost a tight wild card game to the favorites to win the WS. Figured he was up for manager of the year after they seemed just as dead as the Cubs did at the trade deadline. (They were 9.5 back of the Brewers, just 2 wins ahead of the Cubs.) Odd move for them, but whatever indeed. Just happy their season is done and things aren't peachy in STL.

I would love this.

Please be Stubby Clapp.....

Quote:It has been over a week since Mike Shildt's stunning fire as St. Louis Cardinals manager. The team indicated it would strongly consider internal candidates and some external candidates – Skip Schumaker, Matt Holliday – emerged within minutes of the news being reported.

For the Cardinals, it's been radio silence. It's likely that nothing has changed from the day that Shildt was fired. Bench coach Oliver Marmol is the strong favorite to be the team's next manager while Stubby Clapp is another strong internal candidate. But that there have been no leaks, and no indications on which way the team is leaning, is by design. They prefer it this way.

Who the hell is Stubby Clapp?

Cardinals - rok - 10-25-2021

Apparently he is a real live human and Cards lifer.

Regardless of his age and his abilities, the Cub fan in me expects that a majority of Fat Albert’s HRs and RBIs will take place against the Cubs this season

RE: Cardinals - Butcher - 09-11-2022

Pujols is juicing, right? You don’t find new life at age 42. I don’t care what anyone says about being more motivated with the Cardinals — save that bullshit. He’s juicing.

RE: Cardinals - 1060Ivy - 09-12-2022

Of course Pujols is taking whatever PED that’s more difficult to detect - lots of good old HGH - good old Cardinal voodoo magic.

The telling sign will be when Pujols is somehow not available for playoffs. Fully expect that MLB will discover something abnormal but rather than embarrass Pujols and Cardinal organization will let them know he’s done after the regular season ends.

RE: Cardinals - MrSheps - 10-08-2022

Watching the Cardinals lose in the 9th yesterday was wonderful.

RE: Cardinals - 1060Ivy - 05-03-2023

Surprising to see Cards at 10-20 on the bottom of NL Central.

Seems that Willco is back to hitting but Cardinals still suck. Going 2-8 while playing Dodgers, Giants, etc.
