The proximity rule for turning a dp. You should have to touch the fucking bag.

Baseball Pet Peeves - jeffy - 07-06-2009

Sometimes excessive spitting can be annoying. I have no problem with spitting in general, but when a player seems to spit about as often as he breathes, it can be a bit much.

Some of these may have already been mentioned. If so, consider it me weighing in with my support:

- The fact that there are 6 teams in the NL Central and 5 teams in every other division (except the NL West, where there are 4 teams). It's amazing how much that sucks, but nobody seems to make a stink over it.

- Interleague play -- particularly the Crosstown Classic.

- The DH (I know -- mentioned).

- Drunk fans at any ballpark -- I'm not talking about buzzed, or even slightly tipsy. I'm talking about obnoxious, loud, not even paying attention to the game, ruining the experience for everyone around you drunk. Why not just go to a bar, or get drunk at home? I wish vendors would be held more accountable for overserving fans.

- Speaking of vendors...there are too fucking many of them.

- Fans who are up and down out of their seats every other half-inning. Sit down and watch the fucking game, for fuck's sake. I like how they do it at Fenway. They won't let you get back to your seat from the concourse area until the half-inning is over. That does two things -- it limits the amount of times people get up and down, and it keeps people from walking in front of you constantly.

In case you haven't noticed, fan behavior at games is a big pet peeve of mine. Just act like an actual human being and show some common courtesy.

Baseball Pet Peeves - Brock - 07-06-2009

I didn't know they did that at Fenway, I like that idea.

Baseball Pet Peeves - Destined - 07-06-2009

I hate the fans that come to the ballpark to eat, and not watch the game. Plus, the little league teams that come wearing Yankee jerseys to a game between the Angels and Royals.

They do it at Staples Center too. Brilliant.

I'm with you on that, big time. It considerably changes you chances of making the post season. Yes, you still have to win, but having 3 other teams in your division versus 5 makes a significant difference.

I've never heard of someone going to a ballgame for the sole purpose of eating. That's odd.

I take it you've never been to [NL West stadium name censored out].

Alternate jerseys.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

This doesn't bother me. Once in a blue moon will we see the Cubs do the throwbacks. The only time I've seen them do it was last year to celebrate WGN. I find it odd that one of the most historic franchises in history rarely dons the old school.

As for alternates, that's not a big deal to me. Although I would like to see the Cubs do a solid white jersey. So basically the pinstripes version w/o the pinstripes.

Because all of the historic teams have classic jerseys already. The Yanks, Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Cards have made little changes over the last 60 years to their home jerseys.

So I take it you weren't a big Lance Johnson fan? That guy would just launch multiple snotwads between every pitch

I also hate the"walk off" single or double as it isn't really a walk-off if the player has to bust his ass to get home and may or may not be safe.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The "walk-off" means that we don't have to finish this half inning. We're just going to walk off of the field. It doesn't imply that you were able to score a run by actually walking across the plate.

And I can't believe anyone would have any problem with ball players celebrating a victory. Baseball is so regulated that you never get a chance to celebrate anything. Heaven forbid a team act like they actually give a shit.

Baseball Pet Peeves - veryzer - 07-07-2009

i hate the idiots with cell phones behind home plate, waving like retards at a corky thatcher book signing.

i also hate issuing a warning every time a player gets hit. let the players handle it. a fight every once in a while is a good thing.

i hate the fact that the world series home field is determined by the all star game. it bothers me that an error by some douchebag on the nationals can keep the cubs from having home field even if they have the better record.

i hate the mandatory "every team must be represented" rule in the all star game. you can't tell me that the 3 or 4 national fans will have a heart attack if their team isn't represented. and who cares if they did anyway?

i hate the dh. play the field or go home.

i hate interleague play. give me more games against long time teams like the dodgers, mets, phillies, etc. do we really need to see the royals? ever?

i hate the white sox. does chicago really need two teams? white sox fans are the most fair weather fans in sports. if they can't support their team when they suck, then they don't deserve a team.

Baseball Pet Peeves - ruby23 - 07-07-2009

I hate the White Sox too, but Chicago can definitely handle 2 teams . . . in all actuality, places like Chicago and New York could actually handle another team.
