7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Giff - 07-10-2009 Maybe instead of working on his pitching, he's just spent all his time in the batting cages. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Giff - 07-10-2009 Jeez, how many times today are we going to smoke balls right at guys? 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Butcher - 07-10-2009 Damnit. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Butcher - 07-10-2009 <!--quoteo(post=49213:date=Jul 10 2009, 03:11 PM:name=Giff)-->QUOTE (Giff @ Jul 10 2009, 03:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Jeez, how many times today are we going to smoke balls right at guys?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Several times. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - BT - 07-10-2009 sure wish our leadoff hitter could get a hit once in awhile. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - BT - 07-10-2009 <!--quoteo(post=49213:date=Jul 10 2009, 03:11 PM:name=Giff)-->QUOTE (Giff @ Jul 10 2009, 03:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Jeez, how many times today are we going to smoke balls right at guys?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> where do you normally smoke balls? 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - rok - 07-10-2009 <!--quoteo(post=49211:date=Jul 10 2009, 03:08 PM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Jul 10 2009, 03:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->He only has two pitches, but when he's right, his fastball is between 95+ and 90. His change-up is between 75 and 80, with some downward movement. He also throws everywhere in between that range -- from 75 to 95. Again, if he's right, you could see a 95 mph fastball, followed by a 75 mph change up, then a sinking change at 82 mph. Or something along those lines. When his command is off and he can't get his fastball up in that higher range, it really limits what he can do. Instead of a 20 mph range in pitch speed, he's down to a 15 mph range, or even less. And if he can't spot his pitches, then he's going to get into trouble.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> That's what I'm saying. This is why pitchers like Harden end up being converted to closers or excellent setup men. He just doesn't know how to be effective when he can't command both pitches. That's the difference between a guy with great stuff and inconsistent command, and one with 3+ pitches and consistent command but less than dominating stuff. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Giff - 07-10-2009 Unfuckingbelievable. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Butcher - 07-10-2009 Why Pujols ever sees a pitch over the plate in any situation is beyond me. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - rok - 07-10-2009 Fuck, that sounded like it was just a pop up. Fucking Pujols. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - jeffy - 07-10-2009 Stop pitching to him already, especially with the wind blowing out 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Giff - 07-10-2009 <!--quoteo(post=49218:date=Jul 10 2009, 03:14 PM:name=rok)-->QUOTE (rok @ Jul 10 2009, 03:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo(post=49211:date=Jul 10 2009, 03:08 PM:name=Butcher)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Butcher @ Jul 10 2009, 03:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->He only has two pitches, but when he's right, his fastball is between 95+ and 90. It's frightening to think how could he could have been if he were given a different body. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Butcher - 07-10-2009 Look at Harden's pitch speeds today. 83 mph change 84 mph change 92 mph fastball 91 mph fastball The change of speed isn't large enough to keep the hitter off balance when you only throw a change and fastball. He either needs to take more off his change or he needs to add some velocity to his fastball. Of course, if he's hurt then he probably isn't able to do either. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - rok - 07-10-2009 He should be pulled after the next guy gets on. It doesn't sound pretty. 7-10 Cubs vs Cards - Butcher - 07-10-2009 <!--quoteo(post=49225:date=Jul 10 2009, 03:19 PM:name=rok)-->QUOTE (rok @ Jul 10 2009, 03:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->He should be pulled after the next guy gets on.
