Guys, I'm not judgnig how you choose to take your children to games etc. I'm simply saying that I'd much rather spend my money taking them to see and do other things until the ownership decides to make the park more family freindly. For me it's a matter of ethics. When I look at an organization from top to bottom, especially one that I might be investing in (that's a different topic) I tend to make judgements on my percpetion of how the owners view and treat their product. To me personally, I think the Tribune company treated the Cubs for what they were, a really solid investment that yeilded them great returns. I have no problems with that what so ever. That being said however, I'm not going to subject my kids to what I perceive as a basic brush off in the most simple of forms.

If you can't keep your own bathroom clean, what does that say about who you are as a person/company AND what you actually think of your product and those that support you? It's that simple to me. I realize it's a very small example...but to me...when you take a child to participate in something like that I don't think you should have to worry about "am I laying him in piss if I need to change his diaper?" Sorry, not good enough for me.

Personally, when I heard what the Ricketts had to say I was completely happy (assuming that they are going to stick to what they say). They have a long term vision of what and who they want the Cubs to be as an organization and the desire to improve the organanization across the board with a plan to execute it. You can't ask for much more than that.

For me, I just want the park cleaned up and protected and some modicum of modern amenities afforded to the fans. I don't think that's too much to ask.

yeah, i guess that's reasonable. i thing you should have that stick removed from your sphincter and not be so uptight, but i can respect where you're coming from.

I'd like to know what sporting event you've been to with a clean bathroom. I've never experienced it and I've been to plenty of MLB and college events in all different places. Sure, some of them have better shitters and better plumbing, but they all look like a fucking disaster after about an hour.

I think using the bathrooms as an example is a fucking lame one.

Oh and when they took the troughs outta Kinnick during the renovation and replaced them with urinals, it was a huge mistake.

See, I know I've bitched about troughs before, but that's only because of insecurity and self-consciousness.
How bad did it become at Kinnick? Were the urinals of the full variety (to the floor), or the type where the drain is mid-thigh level?

How about don't take kids who still need diapers to a game? Would you take them to a movie?

They're the mid thigh kind. The problem is that the lines are too fucking long now. With the troughs, you could get people in and out pretty fast. Now, however, you have to wait literally 3-4 times as long as you used to.

i think it's kind of funny to bitch about the troughs anyway. most guys would piss in the concourse if it was legal.

The troughs don't bother me at all.

A perfectly reasonable explanation as to why you don't want to bring your children to the game. And I completely understand it. However, it does absolutely nothing for your contention that Wrigley Field is "a pit". It's a nice summation of your feelings of the consequences of business ethics, but it doesn't prove your original premise.

I personally cannot wait until my daughter is old enough to go to a game with me. It is going to be one of the greatest days of my life when I sit and watch a Cub game with my wife and my daughter...might even bring a tear to my eye. As we are sitting there, I will tell her to take in the shit smell, I will tell her to listen to all the sounds, and I will tell her to enjoy every minute of it............because there is NOTHING like seeing a game at Wrigley. I have been to other parks, sure, they may be nicer and more modern, but that doesn't make the experience better. Give me a game at Wrigley over any other park in baseball!
