With Harden probably gone, Marshall will probably be starting and the Cubs need a LHP in the pen. I have less than no problem with this proposed deal.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Agreed. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> me too. Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - Coldneck - 11-04-2009 Why not just let him go to arbitration, settle for 3.5M/4M and avoid the 2 year deal? That would be prudent. But JH has continued to show that prudence isn't on his list of attributes. Grabow could totally suck next year and we'd be on the hook for 2011 we we really don't need to take that risk. Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - Ace - 11-04-2009 Grabow is not a LOOGY, and will not be used as a LOOGY. He will be the primary setup man. I don't mind having him back, but two years and $4 million a year? Come the fuck on. Name one team out there that would pay him that, especially given the fact that he's going to be a type A free agent? Just offer him arbitration and be done with it. Cubs and Grabow discussing multi-year deal - BT - 11-04-2009 Can we PLEASE wait until Hendry actually signs Grabow to a deal before we start moaning about it? However, if his 2010 numbers are close to the numbers he's had in the last couple of years, the amount he would receive after 2010 in arbitration would be more. Therefore, if he suceeds like we all hope, the 2 year deal would actually save the Cubs some $$$. Nitpicking about it being a 1 or 2 year deal for a guy that will constitute about 2% of the total payroll seems rather pointless to me.
