Cardinals - mrfelina - 05-13-2019 I think humor is part of this. It's funny how much they look like klansman in those things. Cardinals - jstraw - 05-13-2019 So, so funny. Cardinals - mrfelina - 05-13-2019 Maybe not Ha-Ha funny... Cardinals - jstraw - 05-13-2019 Odd-funny? Cardinals - VanSlawAndCottoCheese - 05-13-2019 Quote:At some point, those that see racism in every innocent thing are the problem. It's a fucking rain poncho. Lighten up, Francis. There are some people for whom white pointed hoods imply serious danger. I would never consider telling them to "lighten up" (for many reasons, I suppose). A corporation worth a billion dollars could take the easy step to make their rain gear not look like a hate symbol. Cardinals - mrfelina - 05-13-2019 Quote:Odd-funny? Beyond comprehending how there are human being who thought white was the way to go with this. The death of reason in the many, many people who were behind this. I'm not saying everyone should shake their head and laugh at the ludicrousness of it, I'm just saying that's one reasonable reaction, on top of many others. Otherwise, you're just an old angry dude shouting at people to get off your lawn. Cardinals - mrfelina - 05-13-2019 But of course Slaw's point is more valid. It's obviously incredibly offensive. Cardinals - MrSheps - 05-15-2019 I'd say it's a very unfortunate mistake in design that I'm sure is unintentional. Is it offensive? Yes, but unintentionally so, and therein lies the humor. They go hand in hand. Things that are innocently offensive are funny to most people because they recognize the lack of malice. Cardinals - mrfelina - 05-15-2019 I agree with your points, but at the same time, my guess would be that it's a whole lot easier to find the humor in it, a whole lot easier to laugh at it--if you're white. Cardinals - jstraw - 05-15-2019 If the hood weren't pointy no one would have a word to say. Cardinals - MrSheps - 05-15-2019 Quote:I agree with your points, but at the same time, my guess would be that it's a whole lot easier to find the humor in it, a whole lot easier to laugh at it--if you're white.Good point. But I still think intent is key and most people understand that. But the internet won't reflect that because it's usually only extreme voices/opinions that are going to bother to comment. Cardinals - VanSlawAndCottoCheese - 05-15-2019 Intent only matters so much. Your intentions my have been to go grocery shopping, but if you ran over my uncle on the way, I'm not going to laugh it off. Cardinals - Coldneck - 05-15-2019 Quote:Intent only matters so much. Your intentions my have been to go grocery shopping, but if you ran over my uncle on the way, I'm not going to laugh it off. What if your uncle molested you as a child? Cardinals - 1060Ivy - 05-15-2019 Quote: What if your uncle molested you as a child? </div> </blockquote> Seeing uncle on the way to grocer may have changed his intentions.
