Which is all that matters to me.

me too

<!--quoteo(post=6801:date=Dec 23 2008, 11:23 PM:name=liner)-->QUOTE (liner @ Dec 23 2008, 11:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->the last 2 pumpkins shows in chicago were amazing. in my opinion billy thought eddie vedder started showing his cub love publicly just when they were getting a lot of buzz about "going all the way" and the media ate it up. billy goes to a bunch of games every year and follows the team pretty hard core. was it pithy? yes. is he a diva sometimes? definitely. he has a weird complex about being passed over by the media in general and when something like this happens he takes it to heart.

music still rocks though<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yeah, that about sums it up for me.

And, I'll admit that Billy can be a douche, but his music still kicks ass. Vedder, on the other hand has been known to be a decent human being, but I just never got into PJ. His solo stuff is pretty good though.

A couple things. First, Ed is not a fair weather Cubs fan. He's been wearing Cubs hats at shows since they started, started singing the 7th inning stretch in '98 and has made no mistake about it. He grew up in Evanston. As for "all the way" Ed wrote it because Ernie Banks asked him to write a song about the Cubs/Wrigley at Randy Hundley's fantasy camp. He played it in '07 at the Vic, and at those shows last year. The idea that he was trying to capitalize on it monetarily is a pretty silly.

It's true. Your version is way better than Eddie's. Dead serious.

Corgan Blames Vedder for Cubs Collapse - cherp - 12-25-2008

I wish Corgan wasn't so hard to like. Cuz his music used to rock hard - and it still is pretty creative stuff. But Vedder is a HOFer - a first ballot, inner circle, HOF LOCK.

If Vedder is a first ballot HOF'er, Corgan better get in the same damn year.

wow, so much love for eddie vedder, who stopped being relevant roughly the same time billy did. the difference is corgan is still making great music and vedder isn't, unless you guys like the the whiney acoustic shit he's been doing lately.

I know the albums haven't been as big as early stuff, but Pearl Jam has released 5 studio albums since '96 and continue to sell out arenas and amphitheaters everywhere. I would have a really hard time saying that is a lack of relevance. I saw them 3 times last year and Hartford was one the best shows I've ever seen.

outside of "yield", every one of those albums were mediocre at best. the reason they were selling out arenas was because people wanted to hear the early stuff, not the new stuff. you can probably say the same thing about the pumpkins.

all i'm saying is that a lot of people here are coming down on billy when all the same things can be said about vedder.

Tom, I'm coming down on Billy because he's a crazy pompous asshole cocksucker. I don't believe the same can be said abut Vedder. And I said I prefer Corgan's music.

Same here. Corgan's antics don't make me like his music any less either. I'm a huge fan regardless.
