THE WRESTLER - Butcher - 05-04-2009 Saw this one last night and I really liked it a lot. I don't know what the running time was, but it actually felt too short to me. I felt like the emotional impact of the relationship between Randy and his daughter could've been punched up a lot with a little more development. Same with the stripper/Randy relationship. That said -- Rourke was amazing and his performance definitely deserved the nomination. The cinematography was really good, too -- the gritty, documentary feel was perfect. 3.5 out of 4 stars. THE WRESTLER - rok - 05-04-2009 Yeah, I thought it was very good also. The ending, though I won't spoil it, fit the movie perfectly too. The relationships weren't explored in greater detail because I think Randy just didn't function at all outside of the ring, regardless of the circumstance. Whatever emotion or effort he put into trying to make them work was never going to be enough no matter what. I think the time spent on them was appropriate given his character, especially since he decided to make an effort so late in his life. I'll admit, I did expect more of the movie to focus on these relationships or lack thereof, but when it was all said and done, it made sense. Very sad, but by no means a depressingly bleak movie. THE WRESTLER - Brock - 08-24-2009 On the other hand... I watched this one last night and really liked it a lot. One of the better movies I've seen in a while. THE WRESTLER - VanSlawAndCottoCheese - 08-24-2009 I still haven't seen this but have long wanted too. The writer, Robert Seigel (former Editor in Chief of The Onion), has a new flick out with Patton Oswalt in a serious role(!) called Big Fan. THE WRESTLER - ColoradoCub - 08-24-2009 This thread reminded me that I watched Before the Devil Knows Your Dead last week. Marisa Tomei has great tits, and I love that she seemingly has no qualms about appearing nude in films these days. Wasn't sure what to make of that, and still am not. THE WRESTLER - liner - 08-25-2009 i think it looks great. good supporting cast too |
