Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - twitterwoods - 01-25-2009 Jose Macias...make it happen Jim. Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - HTC - 01-25-2009 I'd gladly take Wigginton but he about has to be waiting out for a chance to play every day somewhere. Also, at this point, Wigginton might take less money. There's a LOT of excellent players still walking around without a contract...it's less than a month till pitchers and catchers report, and human nature being what it is, a lot of these unemployed fellows must be thinking desperation thoughts. He should at least be on our radar. He probably is, in fact. I just think he probably feels like that with his last three years, he deserves a shot to play somewhere every day. A 3-year average of .279/.336/.492 with 23 home runs and 68 RBI probably should warrant a chance to get 500-600 at bats from someone. Last I read the Phillies were interested, especially if Feliz continues to have back issues. Is Feliz that good of a defender that he should be playing over Wigginton or is Wigginton that bad with the glove? He looks older than his stated age, and he may have faded quite a bit defensively. Does anyone have any info on his glove these days? His bat has always sucked. But so has Ronny's, except in AAA.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Uribe filled in for Crede last year for about 3 months last year and he was stellar. He's worlds better then Cedeno. Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - Clapp - 01-25-2009 1. Wigginton will go somewhere where he'll get a lot of playing time, that wouldn't be with the Cubs. The Cubs might be the absolute worst team he could go to. 2. We can't afford Wigginton and an at least solid pitcher. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> For an infielder, I would guess Wilson...the A2000 line is the best out there Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - HTC - 01-29-2009 Looks like Uribe signed with the Giants. Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - Andy - 01-29-2009 Hinske is close to signing with the Pirates. Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - HTC - 01-29-2009 CC mentioned it in the Bullpen thread but I wouldn't mind getting Brendan Harris as a backup infielder but I'm not sure the Twins are looking to trade him. Who else is out there as a free agent? Aurilia? Nomar? I don't want that sack of shit near my team. Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - rok - 01-29-2009 If I were Ricketts, the first executive order that I would institute would be a ban on all former or current White Sox players, starting with Cotts. Backup Infielder Possibilities...Uribe? - Clapp - 01-29-2009 Well I'd really like to get Aurilia. He's still got some pop in his bat, can at least play the corner positions, and probably still SS in an emergency. |
