Oh yes

I can get used to this.

Other issues aside, when was the last time the Cubs had a dominant bullpen?  It's early, but they appear to be legit.  They've had decent ones in the past, but cant remember a dominant one.

Time finally get some wins against the Pirates

Good teams should be able to beat up on bad teams and the Pirates are one of the worst in MLB.

In the past seasons, the Pirates typically have a good April - 500 or better - then just fall apart by July. Unfortunately, played them early this season and the Cubs had a losing record going against them going into today’s game. Hopefully, the Cubs can take the series or sweep them despite the weakened roster

The Marmol/Howry/Eyre juggernaut is tough to top. Seriously, though, I still don't look at this pen as dominant, but I can't recall one this consistent ever.

@Pittsburgh 5/25 - funkster - 05-25-2021

It's pretty dominant.  Of course that could easily change, but it certainly is right now.

@Pittsburgh 5/25 - Auz - 05-26-2021

Very dominate but Im waiting for guys like Winkler to regress.

@Pittsburgh 5/25 - mrfelina - 05-26-2021

Yeah, Winkler will regress for sure. And I never want to see Brothers out there.

But the new guys who have come in have been awesome and Chafin and Tepera have been great too. Combined with a Kimbrel who has control of his pitches again (he hit 99 tonight) and don't look now but this pen is a strength.

Too bad we didn't have this when our starting pitching was a strength!

Maybe 2016, although there were more then a few meltdowns, but when firing on all cylinders, the pen was fairly dominant with CJ/Strop/Rondon and then of course Chapman. Montgomery was clutch down the stretch as well.

I love our pen now. Still pretty early so hopefully it holds up.

@Pittsburgh 5/25 - mrfelina - 05-26-2021

Yeah, when they were on, they put up good stats but when it mattered most, Maddon couldn't trust most of them. Edwards, Montgomery and Chapman were the 3 it seemed. One of the main reasons he overused Chapman down the stretch.
