2010 FA Outfielders - Scarey - 09-22-2009 <!--quoteo(post=63967:date=Sep 21 2009, 11:37 PM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Sep 21 2009, 11:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Well, Hendry didn't say he was planning to focus on athleticism. Olney said the Cubs should get more athletic, ASAP. That said, whatever the current buzzword is in Hendry's head, he seems to focus on it to the detriment of everything else. Last season when the buzz was that we lost to the Dodgers because we were too right-handed? It's all Hendry focused on. I'm just hoping that if Hendry is around this offseason, he doesn't get it in his head that he needs to sign/trade for a bunch of "athletes." History shows that it won't go all that well. That's all I'm saying. And I'm not freaking out about it. When Hendry says something about it, then I'll freak out. Again...assuming he's still around.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Fair enough Butcher. I lumped you into BZ's overly sarcastic comment. My apologies. 2010 FA Outfielders - veryzer - 09-22-2009 <!--quoteo(post=63967:date=Sep 21 2009, 11:37 PM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Sep 21 2009, 11:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Well, Hendry didn't say he was planning to focus on athleticism. Rookie Tyler Colvin will get a look in the final two weeks, but the Cubs likely will seek a veteran willing to sign a one-year deal, hoping Colvin is ready by 2011. Milwaukee's Mike Cameron, who hit his 20th and 21st home runs Monday, is expected to be on their radar. -- Chicago Tribune .....Ben's Take: Cubs could send Milton Bradley to the Brewers. That clears Cameron for Wrigley.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> 2010 FA Outfielders - Jody - 09-22-2009 Doesn't he strike out a shit ton? 2010 FA Outfielders - veryzer - 09-22-2009 mike cameron? come on. he's fucking brutal. plus he's black, which isn't gonna sit well with the wrigley crowds. bad idea. 2010 FA Outfielders - leonardsipes - 09-22-2009 Patterson and Pie are examples of how hard it is to find someone athletic enough to play a good CF, and be a good hitter. The Cubs need to start investing their money up the middle. It is a lot easier to find productive corner OFers. 2010 FA Outfielders - Brock - 09-22-2009 Mike Cameron has always been pretty underrated. The guy can hit and has always played a very good CF. Of course he'll also be 37 next season. 2010 FA Outfielders - Scarey - 09-22-2009 <!--quoteo(post=64048:date=Sep 22 2009, 04:10 PM:name=Brock)-->QUOTE (Brock @ Sep 22 2009, 04:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Of course he'll also be 37 next season.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> And will be off of the roids for a full year. Good lord I hope that's only conjecture about the Cubs interest in him. 2010 FA Outfielders - rok - 09-22-2009 If Hendry even attempts to sign Cameron, he should be fired just for having the thought. 2010 FA Outfielders - cigar - 09-22-2009 Cameron is putting up an OPS over .800 this year isn't he? At least the last time I saw he was. I would take that from a centerfielder...although you have to think at his age he is going to start to decline at a rapid pace. 2010 FA Outfielders - Butcher - 09-22-2009 I would have liked Cameron about five years ago. Dude has always hit for power and played great defense. 2010 FA Outfielders - veryzer - 09-22-2009 <!--quoteo(post=64064:date=Sep 22 2009, 05:01 PM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Sep 22 2009, 05:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I would have liked Cameron about five years ago. I'm kidding. Seriously though, center field is the new third base for the Cubs, except instead of Santo we're trying to replace the great Jim Edmunds, Felix Pie, Corey Patterson, Gary Matthews Jr., Damon Buford, Lance Johnson, Brian McRae, Karl Rhodes and countless other disappointments over the last 15 or so years. I'd like to see a deal for B.J. Upton, but I doubt that will happen. |
