Now playing, and playing well for the cardinals is multiplying that a bunch. Ass hole. MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox) - 1060Ivy - 04-20-2011 <!--quoteo(post=141221:date=Apr 20 2011, 09:01 AM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Apr 20 2011, 09:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo(post=141216:date=Apr 20 2011, 08:52 AM:name=rok)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (rok @ Apr 20 2011, 08:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I could see the Cards taking a chance on him and turning him into an All-Star somewhere in their infield. My guess is that Punto is this year's Cards out-of-oblivion All-Star. Punto will play 2nd and just about anywhere else in the infield. Hamilton's a first baseman at AAA so he could become Fat Albert's replacement. MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox) - ColoradoCub - 04-20-2011 <!--quoteo(post=141198:date=Apr 20 2011, 06:09 AM:name=Runnys)-->QUOTE (Runnys @ Apr 20 2011, 06:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->If he somehow learns to hit and cut down his K rate a lot then he could be useful.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Yeah, because the Cubs have such a good history of developing hitters with poor plate discipline. MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox) - kbwsb - 04-20-2011 If we were gonna bring in a 1B for one year, it's the GM's fault that we paid 10M for Nice guy, instead of going for Berkman, who has always been good. Career OBP .408 I know JH hates that stat, but anything over .400 is HOF material. MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox) - Baron - 04-20-2011 <!--quoteo(post=141373:date=Apr 20 2011, 02:38 PM:name=KBwsb)-->QUOTE (KBwsb @ Apr 20 2011, 02:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->If we were gonna bring in a 1B for one year, it's the GM's fault that we paid 10M for Nice guy, instead of going for Berkman, who has always been good. Career OBP .408 I know JH hates that stat, but anything over .400 is HOF material.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Pena is 3 years younger, a better first baseman, and Berkman was bad for the Yankees last year. He also got 8 million, so it isn't like he was a huge bargain compared to Pena, plus he's been injured the last 2 years. I also don't know where you get the notion that Hendry hates OBP. MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox) - kbwsb - 04-20-2011 I think Berkman will level out some, that Pena will improve, and that, considering defense, their overall contributions won't be drastically apart, like they are now. That said, I would have definitely chosen Berkman. And since it's for a one-year deal, the age thing isn't as important. And I assume you're joking about Hendry being an OBP-focused guy. MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox) - BT - 04-20-2011 <!--quoteo(post=141428:date=Apr 20 2011, 03:35 PM:name=KBwsb)-->QUOTE (KBwsb @ Apr 20 2011, 03:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I think Berkman will level out some, that Pena will improve, and that, considering defense, their overall contributions won't be drastically apart, like they are now. MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox) - jstraw - 04-20-2011 The Reds' online store is selling a new Mike Leake t-shirt. It comes with a security tag attached.
