I'm talking about my team finishing 3 games and 150 points ahead of the rest of the league, and I still don't get a bye. Anyone can beat anyone in fantasy football (as Fella is learning), and winning 3 games in a row is tough for anyone. The fact that the one and two team get ZERO advantages for winning the regular season sucks ass. So after having completely dominated the league, having the best record, having the most points, I will win exactly zero dollars.
It's not anyone's fault (it will get fixed next year when I don't finish #1), but it still completely sucks ass.

I usually play in leagues where the best team (most wins and points) in the league get money. Obviously I wasn't anywhere near the top so I didn't really pay attention about whether or not we were doing it like that.

That's a good idea. Like I said that's how we usually do it in my leagues, and for some reason I just assumed we did it in this one.
Just as something else, before the year we could agree on if the person with the best record wants money or a bye. I think that could be interesting, but you can't have both.

I haven't read the last couple pages of this thread but I have a couple of suggestions.
1. Payout the top two regular season finishers. Maybe something like 40% and 20%. The 13 week season is obviously a better measure of a team than a 3 week playoff. Payout 30% and 10% to the playoff 1st and 2nd finishers.
2. Eliminate the playoffs altogether. Although this leads to the problem of bad teams not paying attention late in the season.

I think we could add two more teams next year to bring the total to 12 teams. I'm not sure how that will work with Keepers though.

i like having playoffs. i've just never done one that works like this. we'll fix it next year.
what i do want to know is how did the ballrats make 2 moves this morning? they picked up the titans, which gave them 21 points that really killed me, and i haven't been able to add/drop on a game day all year, am i doing something wrong? it doesn't look like they even paid any of their waiver money. how do you do that?

I don't like either of those options, at least as described there. I like having playoffs. I'm fine with having some payout based on the regular season (I suggested 50/20/10 for the playoffs, & 20 to the top regular season team), but 60% based on the regular season is nuts.
Just like actual sports leagues, winning the regular season is no guarantee of success in the playoffs and nobody remembers who has the best regular season record.
Next year, I think we should have a 6-team playoff (though, if we expanded to 12, this might be worth reconsidering) and have a payoff like that I noted above.
