Bradley traded?? - Butcher - 12-21-2009 That trade would have been about a bajillion times better than what we ended up with. Bradley traded?? - Ace - 12-21-2009 SIGH. Bradley traded?? - cigar - 12-21-2009 I doubt that trade fell through on the Cubs end of the deal. I do wonder what happened there though. "Falling through" in this instance is probably nothing more than - the idea was floated, all the teams liked the idea in theory, but never got close on the money. Bradley traded?? - rok - 12-21-2009 That trade scenario seems a little off to me, money-wise. Bradley traded?? - kbwsb - 12-22-2009 Burrell and Castillo both have their problems. But Either One Of Them>Silva. But Either One Of Them>Silva.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> It bears repeating. There are better guys out there than Silva but we were sure we'd have to pay someone to take Bradley...and we got paid. This could have gone worse....we were sure it would. Bradley traded?? - Ace - 12-22-2009 Thing is, there is not a pundit alive, outside of the Cubs universe, who does not regard this trade as a complete and total fleecing by the Mariners. Bradley traded?? - Coldneck - 12-22-2009 <!--quoteo(post=72745:date=Dec 22 2009, 08:27 AM:name=Ace)-->QUOTE (Ace @ Dec 22 2009, 08:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Thing is, there is not a pundit alive, outside of the Cubs universe, who does not regard this trade as a complete and total fleecing by the Mariners.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Everyone is on the Jack Spellcheck bandwagon right now. I have a feeling they'll be a good team this year and that will help lower the pressure on Bradley. It is very possible that this will be a good deal for both teams. It is also quite possible that both players are released prior to the All Star Break. I hope he beats up a kid or something. It's not only the desire for any way out from under Bradley to ultimately look good...and it's not just shadenfreude (though it is that, too)...it's also that I'm such a racist. But maybe I'm not reading enough Sully. He typed "Spilchick" but Word didn't recognize that and he had auto-correct turned on. What silva did well, get batters to hit the ball into outs, is considered more luck than skill. When he signed his contract, after some very productive years, stat based analysis wouild suggest he was over paid. To stat heads, '08 and '09 were Silva regressing to his true suckiness. Meanwhile, Milton Bradley's pretty OPS, shines in the eyes of stat heads. Any writer that suggests that the trade is not so bad for the Cubs would be riduculed as an old school, ignorant Joe Morgan want to be. Bradley traded?? - Butcher - 12-22-2009 Sipes -- I think you might be the only person on the planet who thinks this might be a good trade for the Cubs. I admire your steadfastness in the face of adversity. Would the Cubs have been better just releasing Bradley outright? He definitely had to go, though. Not sure if you guys saw this yet, but it was Bradley fan letter mocking the Roy Halladay thank you ad from yesterday. http://www.tauntr.com/content/bradley-take...s-fans-rot-hell |
