<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->The Mets and Cubs are reportedly talking about a Jason Marquis deal.
There was talk about Aaron Heilman for Marquis as recently as yesterday, but it's believed the Mets turned down that deal weeks ago. Scott Schoeneweis for Marquis would make a lot more sense. Both are entering their contract years. Schoeneweis is owed $3.6 million, while Marquis is due $9.875 million.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Schoeneweis' K's aren't good, but he had a 3.34 ERA last year and holds lefties to a .224 BAA for his career, including .178 last year. Sign me up.

Definitely do that. I don't know why the Mets would though. I guess now that they have K-Rod and Putz, Schoenwis is expendable.

My guess is the Mets would do it because Schoeneweis sucks and is making close to 4 million dollars.

I don't want any part of this crap.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - Giff - 12-11-2008

He's held lefties to a .594 OPS over his career. Considering Lou's love for going lefty vs. lefty and our two "LOOGYs" are better against righties than lefties...I think he'd fit nice into our pen.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - wcplummer - 12-11-2008

What amount of Marquis do we have to pay? If it's just contract for contract it wouldn't be bad. That opens up about 6 million next year.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - The Dude - 12-11-2008

Do it.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - Rappster - 12-11-2008

This would be a Joo for a Joo, I believe...

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - cigar - 12-11-2008

If you don't have to pay Marquis anything then this is a no brainer. Move Marshall to the rotation and then have an extra 6 mil to throw at an outfielder. Count me in.

My feelings exactly.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - Rappster - 12-11-2008

Lose Marquis.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - Bricklayer - 12-11-2008

You know, I think Hendry is a pretty damn good GM when all is said and done. Last year McFail tried to rape him for Roberts and he had the balls to say no and now this episode with Towers. I'm pretty happy that Hendry is not a knee-jerk type that would buckle and make a bad deal just to make a deal.

Fuckin' A Jimbo, fuckin' A

Considering we could probably trade Marquis and either clear all his salaray or clear half his salary and get a decent prospect in return, I don't think this is a good deal. There's plenty of lefty specialists out there to be had.

You guys have to realize that there are plenty of teams that will be happy to take Marquis off of our hands, especially after the way CCs contract is going to drive up the price of every other free agent starter.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - Clapp - 12-11-2008

YES! There's our lefty to get out lefties. Now get the bat, and spend up to 2 million to keep Blanco(if he still wants to play), call it an offseason, and I'll be absolutely thrilled.

Edit: Well we still need another starting pitcher though for depth... hmm.

Edit Again: I see they mentioned Shark as a possible starter this year.

Marquis for Schoeneweis? - Scarey - 12-11-2008

If we really want to pay a lefty specialist 3.6 million dollars, I'd rather give it to Will Ohman or Joe Beimel.
