Dave Winfield is absolutely embarrassing himself. Every response is a poorly stated platitude (who will win the AL East? The Yankees because, um, they're good; the Mets will win the NL, why? Um, they just have all around good players. They're going to win), and he doesn't know anything about the teams.

rick telander picked the cardinals to win the central.

I agree 100%. Watching him do the NL predictions this morning was brutal. Karl Ravech had to tell him the other OFs were on the dodgers team when he was talking about Manny.

Baseball Tonight has been worthless since Harold Reynolds was canned. I love me some MLB Tonight. The MLB Network is awesome. If you don't have it than you should do whatever it takes to get it.

Winfield takes the cake...worst I have EVER seen. I can't understand how ESPN Executives let that happen. I know Yankee fans love him - and he will draw eyeballs that way - but with the MLB network launch being successful so far, and with them having some very talented analysts, I can't understand why ESPN would have allowed Winfield on their set at this point.

Also, how about Steve Phillips joining the Sunday Night crew?

Because they obviously want to attract the more casual fans, meaning most Yanks fans and 95% of the country, while the MLB Network is geared toward more serious baseball fans who actually know a player or two outside of their favorite team's roster. Winfield is there for ratings, not expert analysis.

While MLB Network is heads and shoulders better than BBTN, they seem like they're slipping as they move away from their premiere. The Cubs 30 clubs in 30 days was laughable.

It only adds to how bad the Sunday night crew was already. I absolutely hate Joe Morgan and now with Steve Phillips it is even worse.

Yeah I've really liked MLB Net so far, but I agree the Cubs 30 in 30 was awful. It would have only taken about 10 minutes of fact checking to fix a lot of what they messed up too.

HR also said Ronny Cedeno would be the guy we really missed most this year, not Derosa.

That may well be true though. We have 3 2B on the Opening Day roster and 5 1/2 OFers, we have 1/2 of a SS.

And with Cedeno on the roster, we'd have 2/3 of a SS.

I agree the 30 Clubs in 30 Days was pretty bad. But MLB tonight and Hot Stove were all pretty good. The only things I watch on there are Live Baseball and MLB tonight. The only thing I watch on ESPN is live college basketball/football, NFL and MLB games. Sportscenter has been awful for several years too.
