I thought that this might be a fun thread to start.

I ran across a Cubs-Cardinals brawl from 1974 that I didn't know about before today. It involves Bill Madlock, Ted Simmons, Jose Cardenal, and Al Hrobosky. Simmons sucker-punched Madlock and got to stay in the game. Oh, the "Good Ol' Days."

Dayn Perry has a post from 2014 where he did more research into the brawl, but fuck if I'm gonna link to it because 1) he clearly pulled the idea from a Reddit thread from a couple weeks prior (not to mention the blog post from a year earlier that i DID link) 2) his writing style is just belching atrocity dressed up as whimsey 3) he's a Cardinals fan 4) fuck that guy.
Holy crap, that was 11 years ago already?

They mentioned on yesterday’s radio broadcast that yesterday was the 43rd anniversary of Rick Monday grabbing the American flag before a protester and his son could burn the flag in the outfield at Dodger Stadium.
My god, that Reed Johnson catch. And it is nice to hear baby Len.

On this day in 1989 (the same year I became a Cubs fan), Greg Maddux throws a complete game shutout against the Dodgers.

I remember that game, even Harry calling him "Greg Matthews" at the end.
When growing up, I loved Harry, his voice felt like home to me.

Forgot how bad he was some of the time...maybe much of the time.
Harrys call on that last play. lol

It might be! It could be!

God bless Harry. He was so lousy, and so drunk. I miss that clown, sometimes.

Wasn't sure where else to post this. Lin Brehmer's ode to the '84 Cubs that aired before yesterday's game.

Happy Lee Elia day! It is a shame that there is no game for the other fifteen percent to attend.

Good commentary from Woods, Biggio, Kyle Hendricks, others on Woods’ 20 strikeout game

A nice memory to share on a wet day in Chicago during lockdown

Recall being in Houston airport and almost missing flight to watch the 9th inning at airport bar

Something wrong with time...it broke or something cause that is no way 11 years ago. Someone's doing their math wrong.

Although not it feels like one day is about a week.
